Tour Plan

At the beginning of our 3 days tour from Fes to the desert, your driver will come and pick you up at your lodging. We will be departing Fes and continuing our adventure via the Middle Atlas Mountains. We will make a photo stop at Ifrane, not too far from Azrou, to shoot some shots in the cedar forest there. We are going to observe a number of monkeys that have barbarian traits. After that, we will continue with the last portion of our journey and make our way to Midelt for lunch. After lunch, we are going to drive via the Tizi N'talghouma pass on our way to the Sahara desert. Near Errachidia is where you'll find the picturesque Ziz Valley, as well as several charming Berber towns, both of which we'll go through on our way here. Following that, we will make our way to Merzouga through Aoufous and Erfoud en route. When we reach Erg-Chebbi, a wonderland of sand dunes, we will be in awe. After traversing the stunning orange sand dunes on a camel, you will reach the desert camp. From the center of the sand dunes, it is possible to see a breathtaking sunset and revitalize one's soul. You will dine and spend the night at the camp, where music will be performed and you can play on the sand dunes under an infinite number of stars.
In order to view the gorgeous dawn the next morning, it is necessary to awaken early. After breakfast and a shower, we drive by camel or car to the village of Merzouga and begin our tour of the Erg-Chebbi sand dunes. Merzouga Lake (which is not always full of water) to view the ducks and flamingos that migrate to this lake in the spring. We will go to the hamlet of Khmliya, where musicians will play Gnawa. Then, we will continue off-roading across the desert until we reach the dark desert beyond the Erg-Chebbi sand dunes. We will next visit a nomadic Berber household to see their way of life. We will next proceed to Rissani, the region's most renowned, traditional, and expansive market. It will be explored on foot with an emphasis on locally produced items and handicrafts. Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday is the optimal time to visit Rissani, when the market is open. Arriving in the afternoon, the remainder of the day will be spent at leisure before spending the night in a small hotel or riad in the Merzouga desert.
Your last day in the desert will be filled with wonderful memories as you travel to Fes through Erfoud, a little town famous for cutting marble stones and fossils, and then on via the scenic Ziz valley and palm groves to Midelt, yet another tiny town famous for its apple cultivation. Whether you decide to stop here for lunch or in the nearby village of Zaida, you'll likely have a little break here. Our journey back to Fes then proceeds toward the Azrou cedar grove. Our 3 days tour from Fes to the Merzouga concludes when we return to the city at approximately 6 p.m. and drop you off at your hotel.
